Join the Town of Matthews for a variety of events to celebrate the Holiday Season. There are events for everyone. Tickets are required for some events while other events are free to the public.

The Nutcracker—Presented by Matthews Ballet

November 24 & 25 and December 1 & 2; Saturday performances are 7 pm; Sunday performances are 2 pm.

Matthews Community Center; $5 Adult • $3 Child (12 & under).

Ticket sales begin at 9 a.m., Saturday, November 3 at the Matthews Community Center.


Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party

The tradition continues immediately following the 2 pm Nutcracker performances on Sunday, November 25 (SOLD OUT) or Sunday, December 2.

Meet the cast and enjoy ice cream, candy and sweets. $5/person (all ages)

Ticket sales begin at 9 a.m.,Saturday, November 3 at the Matthews Community Center.


Breakfast with Santa

Saturday, December 8 OR Saturday, December 15

9 am Session or 10:45 am Session

Ages: 2-8 Years Old; $5 per person (including adults). Bring your camera

and take your picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus! Come enjoy breakfast &

make great holiday crafts. Tickets are required and space is limited!!

White Christmas – Presented by the Matthews Playhouse

Performances of this holiday classic will be presented November 30-December 16 at the Fullwood Theater in the Matthews Community Center. Tickets are $17 adults/$15 students & seniors/ $10 for ages 10 and under. Tickets at






Hometown Holiday Festival & Tree Lighting

Saturday, December 1, 3-6pm

Town Green – in front of Town Hall — 232 Matthews Station St.


The event will include wonderful holiday take-away crafts for kids, carriage rides, entertainment, and more! And of course at 5 PM everyone can gather round the Town Tree, join our performers in carols, watch as Santa arrives into Matthews! And best of all, as soon as the tree lights, we will have a special pyrotechnics show.

Free to the Public.

Downtown Matthews Holiday Stroll

December 1th – 5:30-8 pm

Visit Downtown Matthews Businesses with a stroll through luminary lined streets for special holiday treats, prizes and shopping opportunities.

Your stroll begins at the Matthews Chamber of Commerce/ Visitors Center where you pick up your maps and information on the merchants who are participating in the event.


Free to the Public - Donations for the Matthews Historical Foundation are welcome.

Holiday Concert

The Matthews Concert Band will present a free holiday concert in Fullwood Theater/Matthews Community Center. 7:30 p.m. December 18.
