Hazen Blodgett is the Town Manager of Matthews. The Town Manager is appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serves as administrative head of Town government. The Town Manager is responsible for the operation of all Town departments and executes Board policy. In addition to the Manager's duties of providing leadership, direction and guidance to all the departments, he is also responsible for preparing the annual operating budget for the Town.

Hazen Blodgett has been the Town Manager for Matthews since 2003. Previously he served as the City Manager for Whiteville for 5 years and worked in various capacities in city/county government for a total of 13 years. Mr. Blodgett has a B.A. from Louisiana State University and a Master in Public Administration from Chapel Hill.  Married with four children, he enjoys bicycling and reading in his "spare" time.

    Lori Canapinno is the Town Clerk. The Town Clerk serves as custodian of all public records, including ordinances, resolutions, contracts, agreements and minute books; executes all legal documents; maintains official Town Code of Ordinances; prepares Town Board agendas, attends and writes minutes of Town Board proceedings; performs administrative duties for the Town Manager, Mayor and Board members. Lori joined the Town in 2008 as Zoning Technician/Deputy Town Clerk. She is a graduate of Charter Oak State College and a native of Connecticut. Before joining the Town of Matthews she worked for the Town of Orange, CT for seven years including serving as the municipal assessor.
