Matthews Community Gardens Information

Local residents that do not have space in their own yard can still have the opportunity to plant flowers and vegetables in the local community gardens. Get your garden gloves and shovels ready, and get outdoors to enjoy the harvest. To get started, please read the Guidelines, fill out a Matthews Community Garden Application, and e-mail it to the address listed below.
All plots are full at this time, submitted applications will be added to the wait list.

The cost to be a part of the Matthews Community Garden is $35/year for a small plot, and $50/year for a large plot.  Average garden plot size is ~ 12'x14' for a small plot, and ~ 12'x28' for a large plot.  Please wait until application approval before sending payment.

Wait List:

All plots are full at this time, submitted applications will be added to the wait list.
As the garden reaches its maximum capacity, applicants will be notified that they have been placed on the wait list for the Community Garden.  Matthews residents will receive priority placement on the wait list.  All other applicants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applications are now being accepted.  Please read the Matthews Community Garden Guidelines before you submit an application.  Currently all plots are filled, so applications will be placed on the wait list.  As plots become available, they will be filled by names on the wait list. Matthews Residents will have priority placement on the list.

Plot renewal occurs in February of each year. If individuals decide not to renew their plots, spaces will be reassigned to those on the waiting list or a new garden applicant.
