The Town of Matthews Finance Department has been awarded the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting for the 19th consecutive year.
Matthews, NC – The Town of Matthews Finance Department has been awarded the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting for the 19th consecutive year. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) presented the Finance Department, led by Director Chris Tucker, with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
“We are pleased that the Town’s Finance Department has been recognized again for their outstanding work,” said Mayor Jim Taylor. “I’m very proud of the strong reputation that we have built here in Matthews for responsible and transparent government accounting.”
The Town’s annual financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016 qualified for the certificate, which was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit organization servicing the needs of nearly 19,000 government finance professionals.
