NCDOT is currently working on the continued expansion of S. Trade Street. The project will widen S. Trade from two to four lanes between Chaphyn Lane and Marque Place. There will be temporary road closures during construction hours (9am-4pm) for the duration of the project. We are aware that this project is causing significant traffic delays. We have been working very closely with NCDOT to minimize impacts as much as possible.
The next phase of work should have less lane closures, but motorists traveling through the area should still allow extra travel time to get through during construction hours (9am-4pm). Delays of up to 12 minutes have been reported to us. Alternate routes are McKee Rd to Kuykendall or Providence Rd if heading to Charlotte; McKee Rd to Pleasant Plains to E John if headed to downtown Matthews.
The project is expected to be completed by Sept. 28, 2018. For more specific information, please contact Brian Davis with NCDOT (the Resident Engineer on this project) 704-845-1151 [email protected]
NCDOT released information about the project on Dec .15, 2017.
