Matthews Convenes Series of Meetings on E. John Street Project

The first of three meetings focused on reaching consensus on the proposed NCDOT widening of E. John Street was held last week at Matthews Town Hall.
 


Matthews, NC – The first of three meetings focused on reaching consensus on the proposed NCDOT widening of E. John Street was held last week at Matthews Town Hall. 

A 20 person group of community members including the Matthews Board of Commissioners, Transportation Advisory Council, citizens and Matthews Town staff, met for over two hours. The group received a status update and timeline overview of the project by Public Works Director CJ O’Neill and then participated in a facilitated discussion. Each participant listed pros and cons of the current design for the project. Click here to  read the minutes from the meeting.

Written comments from the public are being accepted and reviewed by the group. Please visit  www.matthewsnc.gov/eastjohnstreet to submit comments. 

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 30 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm at Matthews Town Hall. The third and final meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 30 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm also at Matthews Town Hall. While all three meetings are open to the public, the June 30 meeting will have a public comment period.
