Historic charm, a bustling downtown, that small town feel. There is so much to love about Matthews. The Town of Matthews today announced the launch of a four-week campaign to bring the community together to celebrate all the wonderful things about Matthews.

The Town of Matthews today announced the launch of a four-week campaign to bring the community together to celebrate all the wonderful things about Matthews. Each week will center around a theme, and will include activities, giveaways, contests, and much more.

Love Matthews

Week 1 - "Love where you live!"
The kickoff week for Love Matthews will focus on encouraging people to show their love for Matthews. Officially launching at Food Truck Friday on July 26 in Stumptown Park, Love Matthews will begin with some fun giveaways, T-shirts available for purchase, and a BIG surprise in Stumptown Park. Stay tuned for more details!

Week 2 - "Love where you live: The Great Outdoors"
Our beautiful parks and greenway are some of the best parts of our town. This week, we'll celebrate our love of the outdoors and encourage folks to get out and explore, as well as how we can all work together to keep our town looking beautiful. 

Don't Miss: FREE Yoga class in Stumptown Park on Friday, August 2 at 9:00 a.m. Bring your own mat. All ages welcome. Taught by Linda Oelschlaeger. 

Week 3 - "Love where you live: Arts & Culture"
This week celebrates our love and appreciation for all things art and culture.  

Don't Miss: Rock Painting Party at Squirrel Lake Park on Tuesday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m. Rocks and supplies will be provided. 

We'll be handing out some fun freebies at Food Truck Friday on August 9. T-shirts will be available for purchase. 

Art Walk Challenge through Downtown Matthews. From Friday, August 9 through August 16, stop by the Matthews Community Center (100 E. McDowell Street) to pick up an Art Walk Challenge Guide. Then, begin your mission to find the 12 pieces of public art on the list. Take a selfie with each work of art, post to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using #LoveMatthews (or email the photos to [email protected]). If you take a photo with all 12 – you’ll be entered to win a $100 gift card to a Matthews business of your choice and four tickets to a performance by the Matthews Playhouse.
Please note Matthews Community Center Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Sunday 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Week 4 - "Love where you live: Why We Serve"
This week is all about why we, as Town of Matthews staff members, love serving this great town. You'll hear from the Matthews Police Department, Matthews Public Works, Matthews Fire & EMS, and all of our departments. 

Don't Miss: Matthews Touch-A-Truck on Saturday, August 17 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at Stumptown Park. We have a fantastic lineup of trucks and equipment for kids to explore (including fire trucks, police cars, a backhoe and so much more!) We'll also have a very special demonstration of the Matthews Police Department K9 unit. You won't want to miss it! Plus, free Kona Ice to the first 200 people (one free small Kona Ice per person).
