Matthews, NC – During the Matthews Town Board meeting on October 28th, the proceeds from the 2019 Matthews Alive Festival were presented to representatives from nearly 40 area non-profit organizations. It was yet another record year for the festival, with $147,716 being distributed.
This was the 27th year of the festival, whose overall mission is to give back to the local community. The $147,716 distributed this year will be shared by the area non-profits who worked or participated in this year’s festival.
“The Matthews Alive Board is so pleased to be able to give back another record amount to our non-profit partners. To put on such a wonderful family tradition in Matthews alongside our sponsors, volunteers, and town staff--and then to give back in a big way—is very gratifying. We are closing in on the $2 million mark for 27 years. It’s an honor for all of us to create such an important community event,” said Lee Anne Moore, Executive Director of Matthews Alive, Inc.
Matthews Alive is held every year on Labor Day weekend in downtown Matthews. Over 2,000 volunteers and representatives from nearly 40 non-profits serve in various capacities at the free event for the public. Sales of carnival rides, games, attractions, food vendor & craft booth rentals, exhibitor booth rentals, and sponsorships generate the proceeds from the festival.
