A retired minister and Medical Social Worker, Bob moved to Matthews in June 2016 from East Tennessee to be closer to his daughter and family. He has co-owned a small, non-medical senior care business, education includes being a certified Senior Advisor, Psychosynthesis Life Coach, and Duke trained Integrative Health Coach. His particular areas of interest include seniors, economic fairness, parenting, promoting healthy living, and facilitating focus group meetings.

Nikki has lived in Matthews for six years with her husband and two young children. Nikki serves as Chief Development Officer for Freedom School Partners, a non-profit dedicated to eliminating summer learning loss for children in grades K-8. Nikki holds a Bachelor of Arts from Western Kentucky University as well as a Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University. She is a graduate of Leadership Charlotte Class 38 and CBI Class V. In addition, Nikki is a member of the Rotary Club of Charlotte and serves on the board of the Charlotte Chapter of the Association for Fundraising Professionals. She chose to serve on the Cultural Diversity Council to ensure that issues with respect to eliminating disparities and ensuring equity are at the forefront of community decision making.

Angela has been a resident of the Town of Matthews since 2003.  She is married to the Reverend Gregory H. Lee and they have two sons, Alan and Charles.  Angela has a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State and Master’s in Public Administration from UNC-Charlotte.  Angela has spent over 29 years working in the public sector and enjoys working with the public to resolve issues.  Lee loves living in the Matthews community and hopes that serving on the diversity council will make our community more inclusive.

Jermaine earned his Bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude with a concentration in computer networking. Despite vision impairment and other challenges, he persevered to earn a master’s degree in information technology management and a second master’s degree in vision rehabilitation therapy. Along with his education, he also has over 10 years of experience teaching technology. This includes elementary age students up to the collegiate level, including instructing a graduate class session at Western Michigan University on assistive technology. He is currently the Assistive Technology Instructor for Charlotte’s Division of Services for the Blind. He is interested in accessibility and inclusion for all.

Sarah moved to Matthews 3 years ago from Michigan.  She works for Metrolina Association for the Blind; a nonprofit in Charlotte that assist in the adjustment process of vision loss and regaining independence and confidence.  Sarah is passionate about the Americans with Disabilities Act.  She joined the CDC of Matthews to be a voice against discrimination. She received her B.A.A. in family Studies and minored in Substance abuse intervention, education, and prevention.  Sarah lost her vision suddenly to Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 23.  She completed her M.A. in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy. Sarah enjoys networking, swimming, dancing, and spending time with her husband and yellow lab Ecko.

Becky has lived in Matthews with her husband for 16 years and they raised their 2 sons here. Having worked previously in local schools, and now at the Matthews Police Department, she feels blessed by the opportunities to see the diversity of Matthews' residents first hand. Becky has a strong interest in LGBTQ rights, social justice, and affordable housing. She hopes the work of this council will help others truly feel that "Matthews is my home."
